Childhood. Such a simple word. With such a powerful meaning. Childhood at its purest form is magical. I love the way children exude joy in even the most mundane of situations. When my nephew showed up for a surprise visit I instantly knew that an impromptu photoshoot was in order.
A simple sunflower field. There's something truly beautiful about sunflowers. Sunflowers are rare and fleeting-their season is short. Maybe that's what draws me to child, lifestyle photography. The fact that they are only children for such a short time. The fact that their giddiness and curiosity hasn't been tainted yet. When we go on excursions like this I don't do a whole lot of talking. I love to sit back and watch them do what they do best. I like to encourage them to run, play, hold hands, explore. To take it all in. Gentle prompting like,
"How does that flower smell?"
"Does it tickle your nose?"
"Hold hands and see what treasure you can find."
And then I sit back and see where it leads.
I can't wait until all of the gorgeous Fall sessions with your littles! What magic will we capture?
