Five Delightful Christmas Activities in Huntsville
The Christmas season is upon us, and that means Huntsville is chock-full of fun events to help you and your family create special Christmas memories. Big kids, little kids, no kids, single, married - whoever you are, Huntsville has something fun for you. Read on for some of my favorites!
Skating in Big Spring Park
Open from November 27, 2024 through January 5, 2025, this sweet little skating rink is a highlight of the Christmas season. Located in Big Spring Park right in front of the Huntsville Museum of Art, ice skating under the winter sky is a joy for the whole family. There are stroller-friendly portable restrooms with changing tables, hot cocoa and coffee, snacks, and of course the beauty of the park lit up for Christmas. There are even scooters for the ice skating-challenged among us!
Tinsel Trail at Big Spring Park
After you finish ice skating (or maybe on another day), head over to the Tinsel Trail in Big Spring Park. Hundreds of Christmas trees decorated by local businesses, churches, and non-profits decorate a long swath of the park. Walk along with some hot chocolate and decide among your family which tree is your favorite!
Galaxy of Lights at Huntsville Botanical Garden
Looking to experience a winter wonderland? Head over to the Botanical Garden for an evening of glittering whimsy. You and your loved ones will walk through beautiful light displays, sparkling light tunnels, and even some magical snow! You'll find hot beverages and snacks along the way to keep you war,. And if you aren't up for walking, the Garden has driving nights available so that you can still experience the Christmas joy!
Candlelight Christmas at Burritt on the Mountain
Burritt on the Mountain lights up for two nights, December 6th and 7th, in a traditional Christmas celebration. Make old time Christmas tree decorations, make Christmas cards, and listen to traditional choral Christmas music. You can even visit Kris Kringle and take a picture! If you're looking for something to take you back in time and slow down this Christmas, Candlelight Christmas might be for you!
Huntsville Christmas Parade
On December 3rd, head downtown and stake out a spot to watch the Huntsville Christmas Parade. Featuring over 80 floats, animals, and marching bands, this event is a great way to experience Christmas with the larger Huntsville community. Spots along the route fill up quick for the 6 PM start time, so come a little early and get a good view!
Whatever you choose to do this Christmas season, make sure you remember to take lots of pictures!
