As I am sure you know by now, I just love newborn in-home sessions. And look at this adorable blended family. They have definitely welcomed their little one into their home with open arms.
I want to take a second to do a Q and A about all things newborn session. I know there is already so much to welcoming a new little one into your family, and I would like to make at least something easier for you.
A pretty common question I get is when to schedule an in-home newborn session. My best advice to potential clients is to schedule right at the end of the first trimester. Then you are able to get a time that works for you. Ideally you will want to do those photos between the first 7-14 days after your due date.
And of course there is the where for the first session. In-home is an excellent option as it allows a really comfortable environment for your newest additon. I can really get all the detail shots of baby’s whole world at the time, and they will be moments to really treasure always. And bonus, you have everything you need on hand for whatever may happen during the session.
That leads me to the next question of how to prepare. I know that the first few weeks of bringing your little one home are a lot. So my best advice is to keep it simple. Have your outfits (and backup outfits) ready to go, the crib area made up, access to lots of window light, and most importantly a mindset of any number of things could not go as planned, and that is 100% ok. Those moments sometimes make the best memories, and really great stories to tell.
This is just a small overview of the newborn in-home session. Let me know if you have a new little one on the way. I would love to schedule a consultation, and help you capture your family’s new chapter.
