I guess in order to tell the story of Riley and Bradley, I have to first tell a little bit of the story of Riley's mom, Rica.
My husband met Rica when he went to her optometry office, R City Eye Care. He came home and told me that he had just met the most amazing eye Dr. He talked for what must have been 20 minutes about this phenomenal, Indian Dr. that encouraged him, challenged him, stirred his soul and fixed his eyes, haha. A little skeptical of the Disney world eye experience, I made my own appointment.
Everything he said and felt was spot on. Rica was in fact amazing.
Over the next few months we had the pleasure of getting to know this gentle and amazing spirit. We talked about India and our love experience living there for a brief time. We felt like we had found a little piece of home with Rica. And it was amazing. Not long after it came up that her son was soon to be married.
Rica honored me by asking me to photograph their traditional Indian Sangeet the day before the wedding.
I had always dreamed of attending an India wedding. Never did I dream that I would be able to photograph one.
Bradley, Rica's soon to be daughter, was every bit as radiant and kind as Rica, and I wasn't at all surprised. I knew from the little bit of time that I spent with her that this would be an amazing day to be a part of.
The day came and threw us a curve ball with steady rain all day. I don't think any amount of dreary could have dulled the glow from those two lovebirds.
Though we had to make some adjustments, the day couldn't have been any more beautiful!
The colors were absolutely stunning and made me feel like I was right back in India. The entire bridal party and family came decked out in their sarees and traditional clothing.
It was a vibrancy unlike I had seen in a very long time.
I had to remind myself to take pictures as I just wanted to be present and soak in all the beauty that day.
I absolutely love that we have a creator that has put so much detail into each and every one of us, and that we are intricately and diversely made. Riley and Bradley were a picture of the type of world Jesus envisioned.
One in which we didn't hide inside the boxes of our own small world, but that we live and love across all nations.
I hope these images give you just a small glimpse of how beautiful this day was and what beautiful souls make up the McRoy and Plott families.

Stephanie Honikel - Oh my goodness, I love it when two cultures come together and how colorful Indian weddings are. I just had the pleasure of photographing a newborn whose dad was born and raised in India. Great pictures as always. I can see and feel your passion for photography.
