I have been photographing Huntsville and Madison Al families and newborns for the past two years now (one if you don't count the covid year that was a part of that). Since moving here one of my goals was to apply to be a ClickPro Master and Elite member.
I began noticing so many amazing photographers having Click Pro at the top of their websites and social media pages, but had no idea what it entailed.
Was it just a badge to place on your site?
As I began to research and grow in my curiosity about this elusive award I found just how meaningful and valuable being a member would be.
For years ClickPro has been empowering and inspiring female photographers around the world. Gaining acceptance allows you access to so many resources and trainings to further grow as an artist and business professional. It also allows you access to platforms for submitting work, blogging for the masses, and, ultimately (which is my goal), to one day teach. It allows the best of the best a place to continue to push themselves artistically and be ever growing and changing in their craft.
The process was extensive and one of the most challenging things I've done professionally. You have to submit 150 heavily curated and technically sound images from your work. A panel of judges goes through every picture and critiques them based on 7 main categories:
Exposure
Use of Light
Color + White Balance
Composition
Processing + Cohesion
Technical Basics
Creativity + Intention
A score of 4/6 or higher was required in every category.
I'll be honest, the curating process was terrifying. Going through every image I've ever taken and evaluating it on all 7 categories was overwhelming at times and frequently left me questioning my abilities as an artist.
I relied on the help of trusted and seasoned photographers that had gone through this process to give me the honest truth. I also sent my portfolio to friends and family for feedback as well. I'm so grateful for the honest criticism that guided my choices and final submission.
I can honestly say that going through this process for several months helped me grow so much. I began to see the holes in my practice and areas of weakness. Without even seeing my scores I began to grow and change in the way that I was shooting.
After two weeks of waiting...I got my acceptance!!! Shock! Excitement! Disbelief! All feelings that ran over me as I read that letter.
You better expect to see that badge proudly displayed on the site in the coming weeks. Thank you to all the beautiful faces that were included in my top 150, whether you knew it or not.
